We talked about taking the LES tenement museum tour for years. When we finally got around to taking it with some visiting friends, we had to kick ourselves for waiting so long. Having both lived in tenement apartments on the lower east side made it especially interesting for us.
The Cloisters are an absolutely beautiful place to visit in the spring.

We highly recommend taking the full three-hour circle line cruise, a narrated boat tour taking you around the entire island. This is one of those things that we can feel safe to recommend to anyone, no matter if it's your first time in New York or if you have lived here for years.
